The past 3 years have presented historic challenges to our industry. I’ve worked to adapt and modernize Local 44 to meet those challenges. Together we’ve accomplished much. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to bring 44 into the future.
We’ve introduced the role of Communications Director, providing you with the important information you need in weekly newsletters and educational bulletins.
Executive Board motions are now in an easy-to-find, easy-to-read section of the website. Additionally, we’re working toward placing Board meeting minutes on the website in their entirety.
Every computer and our end-of-life server have been replaced, and our network security has been upgraded to protect your information. New documents are being stored digitally for easy location and retrieval. The Business Agents department is using the new software system and it’s being rolled out to other departments.
We’ve facilitated the needs of the many new committees by giving them digital resources like Google groups and Instagram accounts, while keeping it all under the umbrella and oversight of the Local. We now have a thriving Local 44 social media presence on both Instagram and Facebook.
I’ve consolidated our finances and harvested interest income to create a new revenue stream for the Local, generating over $1.3 million in the last 2 years. New structural changes to our finances are coming. We’ve engaged with vendors who charge less to process payments and sold our old building to increase the size of our balance sheet.
I participated in the complete rewrite of Local 44’s Constitution and By-Laws, supporting changes to allow digital elections and eliminating cumbersome nomination petitions, as well as the addition of language allowing hybrid meetings and reducing quorum thresholds.
